MSUAS Hosts Joint Inter-University Green Computing Seminar
Driven by the shared vision of sustainable technology and holistic student development, Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) recently hosted a Joint Green Computing Seminar at Fernhill Campus in Mutare.
The event brought together students from Africa University (AU) and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) for a day centered on sustainable learning, technological innovation, cross-institutional networking, and wellness.
Guided by the strategic theme, “Learn, Connect, Move, Collaborate”, the initiative established an interactive platform for future digital leaders to exchange ideas on sustainable technology and environmentally conscious computing.
Addressing during the seminar, MSUAS Executive Dean of Students, Dr. Amon Isheunesu Chaka, commended the initiative for promoting deep collaboration between regional universities through academic engagement and innovation.
He also emphasised on the critical importance of environmental sustainability, noting that young people carry a responsibility to protect the planet through green technologies and sustainable practices.
“We are holding this seminar because we recognise that integrating environmental consciousness into technological advancement is critical.
“Since we only have one Earth, the digital infrastructure and innovations we utilise across our campuses must be fundamentally sustainable,” said Dr Chaka.
The academic segment of the seminar featured an array of specialized presentations delivered by distinguished guest presenters focusing on the core pillars of green IT and innovation.
By successfully blending academic engagement and social interaction, the seminar highlighted the growing importance of partnerships among universities in addressing global challenges such as climate change and sustainable development.
The initiative reflects MSUAS’s ongoing commitment to fostering innovative, collaborative, and socially responsible graduates who are uniquely prepared for the evolving technological landscape.
